This one is for all of you who are doing this special needs parenting thing and you absolutely cannot take *one. more. day.* of holding him down so he doesn’t bite holes in his own hands.
You know, a lot of times, I talk a big game on this autism parenting thing. I look hard for answers and share them with you once I have them, but sometimes, like a few days ago, I catch it right in the teeth and I literally stand there with my mouth open.
“It’s a process; we have to grow to accommodate this grief. It doesn’t go away, and it doesn’t really lessen, but eventually we grow into a person who can carry it. That takes a long time, and it’s not a problem to solve but a process to endure.”
